什么是运动障碍性疾病呢
在近代以前，运动障碍疾病，又被称为舞蹈病，是神经系统疾病中最为常见的一类疾病。在当时，人们通常认为这些症状是由巫术引起的。
亨廷顿病（Huntingtons disease）是一种由于神经系统退行性改变引起的疾病。
这种疾病最突出的症状是肢体的异常扭曲、僵直，导致患者呈现出古怪的躯体姿势。
在中世纪的欧洲，人们认为这是恶魔附身的证据，由于这种疾病在发作前往往还伴有人格的改变，这就更像是恶魔附体了。
当时一旦患上这种疾病，最好的结局是被隔离，独自忍受病痛的折磨。而有的病人则更为凄惨，她们会被当作女巫处死。
后来，乔治·亨廷顿（George Huntington）认识到这些表现应该是一种疾病。亨廷顿是一名居住在纽约长岛东汉普顿的医生。17世纪40年代的英国定居者建造了这个定居地，这里一度因当地居民中流行的舞蹈病而闻名，当地人形容这种疾病的患者如同醉汉。
亨廷顿的祖父和父亲在他之前就已经在这座小镇上行医。截至1870年，亨廷顿收集了该病75年来的流行情况，这些都是价值连城的资料。
在分析这些资料之后，他发现舞蹈病是一种遗传性的疾病，这是在基因学理论诞生后发现的第一个基因病，尽管基因学作为一种崭新的科学在当时尚不成熟亨廷顿发现了这种疾病，却没能够提出任何有效的治疗方法，至今仍然没有治疗这种疾病的有效方法。
Ps:在中世纪，很多亨廷顿舞蹈症病患者因为被误认为是女巫而遭受了火刑。
